Abstract
Noting that the territory imports 80% of its food — with transport driving over half its greenhouse-gas output — the presenters made the case for low-trophic 'blue foods' such as algae, sea cucumbers and bivalves. They highlighted IFREMER's revival of the indigenous rock oyster (Saccostrea) using genetic identification and solar-tide tables to overcome the parasites that collapsed the industry in the 1980s.
