Abstract
Kahn's research on Rurutu found that traditional leaf mulching sustains higher soil microbial richness than modern plastic sheeting, which can actually reduce soil carbon. Developed with the Rurutu Council of Elders, the work validates traditional irrigated taro terracing as both resilient and carbon-beneficial.
