Abstract
Comte defined blue carbon as sequestration in mangroves, seagrasses and salt marshes — clarifying that coral reefs are NOT classed as blue-carbon ecosystems — and mapped the voluntary and regulatory market landscape, including France's Label Bas-Carbone. He flagged integrity challenges of additionality and permanence, and a striking gap whereby only 2% of peer-reviewed blue-carbon science informs market methodologies.
