Abstract

Winter introduced biocultural restoration — restoring social-ecological systems rather than ecosystems in isolation — using Heʻeia NERR and 'ecomimicry' across eight strategies towards ʻāina momona (sustainable abundance). His fishpond research shows traditional fish houses actively increase reef-fish abundance, casting humanity as a potential solution rather than an inherent problem.
