Vieglais framed 'contextual collapse' — research losing its ties to geographic, ethical and social origin in global repositories — and presented iPlaces as a platform keeping place-based projects connected to downstream research. It integrates Local Contexts Labels for consent and mints DOIs so communities retain access and institutions gain recognition.
